Make it Last Forever
Most people are surprised when I hand them a candle care card with their first Blue Sage Candle purchase. Typically people just light the candle and then blow out the flame when finished. Now simply lighting your candle and extinguishing it is not a crime, however, you might be pleased to learn that you can extend your candle experience by 5 to 10 hours just by taking proper care of it. Candle maintenance not only extends your candle burn time, it is also a step towards being more environmentally conscious.
All of our candles are made using 100% natural soy wax, which means the wax is derived from soybeans (vegetable wax) which is more sustainable than conventional candles, plus they provide a cleaner burn thus making your experience more gratifying. Candles, like us, have a memory, for example, if your candle is starting to puddle/tunnel, more than likely when the candle was first lit, it did not melt from edge to edge. It is important to allow your candle’s top layer to completely melt prior to extinguishing the flame, this allows your candle to burn evenly throughout its burn time.
Below are more candle care tips to help you maximize your candle burning experience:
·To maximize the life of your candle, be sure to allow the entire top layer of wax to melt to the edge of the glass.
Trim the wick to ¼ inch each time before burning.
If flame appears dim, safely pour out a small amount of the wax pool.
Burn in a safe place away from children, hanging plants, curtains and pets. Avoid fans, vents or direct access to air currents.
Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
Extinguish the candle if the flame becomes too large. Let the candle cool, trim the wick before re-lighting.
Always keep the candle within your sight.
Use a candle snuffer or candle lid to extinguish the candle.
Sustainable living is one of our top priorities. Our jars are completely reusable and recyclable. Once your candle is finished, safely pour out the remaining wax into the trash, remove the wick, rinse with hot water, and then dry with a cloth. Sustainability Tip:: Instead of throwing away remaining wax, pour leftover wax onto a wax melter.
